Hi! In our single-family house, only the ceiling between floors has been insulated. We were told, however, that the attic space should definitely be insulated as well, since otherwise, stored items would be exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations.
I did some research online, but apparently, it’s also easy to make mistakes that could even damage the roof structure!
How exactly should I proceed now?

Thanks in advance
Marvin

I would keep it as a cold roof—you can’t really go wrong with that. Of course, there are temperature fluctuations, but typically, you don’t store much up there anyway...

Yeah, that’s nonsense.
The junk also keeps heat or cold quite well, and sensitive items don’t belong in the roof area anyway.
The insulation effect for the house is negligible; the effort just isn’t worth it.

If you’re not storing any art or similar items there, that doesn’t make sense.

All right, thanks... they told me something about extreme temperatures, and I imagined something like plus or minus 100°C (212°F)!

It is an old sales tactic to create demand through fear in order to then satisfy it. Magic keywords that fit into the context of current topics—here "insulation"—act as sales triggers.
I agree with the previous speakers: As long as you are not storing climate-sensitive items or planning to use the attic as living space, insulating is money thrown away.
