Hello, I need some advice. I have an Ikea Faktum kitchen (open to the living area). When I moved in two years ago, things had to happen quickly, so I didn’t have much time to focus on the kitchen design. What I didn’t really consider back then is the backsplash: those typical shiny, standard kitchen tiles. Against the white kitchen with birch-colored elements, it looks quite sterile. Plus, it now really annoys me when I look at the tiles from the sofa.

So my question is: Is it possible to install wall panels afterwards without taking the entire kitchen apart? I find those glass Imperativ panels very stylish. Second question: What if the panels don’t have the exact size to fit perfectly between the countertop and the wall cabinet? Can they be trimmed? I would really appreciate your help and experience.

As far as I know, retrofitting is not possible. Cutting it is also not feasible because it is safety glass, and if cut, it would shatter into millions of small pieces, similar to a car side window... Sorry...

You would need to remove the wall cabinets and the countertop panels first.
What if the panels don’t fit exactly between the countertop and the wall cabinet?

The wall cabinet can actually hang over the panel since the panels are very thin and it wouldn’t be noticeable. However, you would still need to remove the wall cabinets, which can be done quickly with a cordless drill and an extra person.

Hello,

thank you first of all for your answers.
I thought the glass could maybe be cut by the glazier, of course not by myself.

"Just quickly taking down the wall cabinets" is unfortunately not that simple: since the wall is completely uneven, we carefully adjusted and wedged some small strips and similar behind the cabinets so that they are level. So I have to think this through carefully. Especially since the cabinets are, of course, packed full.
