Good morning everyone,

what is the best way to install spotlights in a ceiling if I don’t want to modify or plaster the cast-in-place concrete afterwards? We want to keep the concrete visible in the hallway on the ground floor to maintain the rustic charm.

I was thinking about using the Kaiser concrete slab ceiling large junction box. Fix it to the formwork boards with nails, pull the cables through, and that’s it. The spotlight to be installed should fit inside and the frame should cover the box.

We did it ourselves and were extremely meticulous to ensure everything was 110% perfect.

Out of 28 sockets, 2 looked bad. You can fix all of that with plaster. Without plaster, I wouldn’t have accepted it.

Of course. Plaster helps! By now, I better understand the saying from the masons at our construction site:

One consolation remains for us – in the end, it’s all plastered and smoothed out 😀

And as you already said: you did it yourselves and were meticulous about it. That’s why it looks great 🙂

Not exactly. At some point during the concrete pouring, one of the boxes came off its cover and shifted, and on another box, the cover partially detached from the wiring.

I don’t want to blame anyone, although I believe the structural builders made a mistake. But you can’t change anything about it afterwards.
