Hello everyone,
I am currently planning the installation of my new IKEA Metod kitchen and have chosen cabinets with integrated handle grooves. I find this design visually very elegant and simple, but I also want the assembly to be neat and durable.
My specific question is: How do I assemble IKEA Metod cabinets with handle grooves so that the result looks truly high-quality and visually appealing? Are there any special assembly tips, tools, or settings I should definitely consider to install the handle grooves precisely and straight?
I would especially appreciate advice on how to avoid common beginner mistakes and which details are often overlooked but are important for the overall elegant appearance.
Thank you in advance!

Thanks in advance for the many helpful tips!
So far, I have limited assembly experience with Metod, but I always aim for high accuracy. I own a digital level and a caliper.
I am particularly interested in whether there are any special considerations when adjusting doors with recessed handles compared to those with regular knobs or handles. I understand the importance of consistent gaps, but what about the door’s insertion depth inside the cabinet carcass? For example, does a door with a recessed handle need to be adjusted differently to avoid damaging the recess or affecting its appearance?
I look forward to specific advice on adjustment and safety aspects regarding recessed handles!

Do you already have experience with precisely measuring the fronts?

The adjustment of doors with recessed handles does not differ significantly from other door types. Important points are:
- The door should not be pressed too firmly against the cabinet, as this can damage the recessed handle.
- Use the adjustment options on the hinges precisely to maintain consistent gaps.
- Adjust minimally and frequently check the fit.
This way, the recessed handle is preserved and maintains an elegant appearance.

Hey, the topic of recessed handles for Metod cabinets is always a great one! 😎
I think recessed handles add a soft elegance to the kitchen – almost like an invisible grip that visually calms the space. My tips:
- When installing the fronts, don’t press too hard, or small scratches can easily form inside the recess.
- When screwing, start loosely, then align precisely, and finally tighten securely.
- Do everything with plenty of natural light so you can immediately see if any alignment is off.
Stay relaxed, anyone can do this – and your kitchen will get that wow factor that recessed handles provide!
