Good morning everyone,
I have a small problem with my IKEA Malm bedside table. Unfortunately, stubborn stains have settled on it that I couldn’t remove despite simple cleaning. I’m mainly thinking of water marks and slight discolorations that have developed over time.
My specific question is: What methods or home remedies are most effective for reliably removing stains from the surface of an IKEA Malm bedside table without damaging the surface or finish? Are there any special cleaning products you would recommend, or perhaps tips that IKEA itself or experienced users suggest?
Thanks in advance for your tips and experiences!

Vinegar is a home remedy but can damage the sealant on Malm fronts. That’s true, but honestly: who takes such meticulous care of their nightstand? Especially with affordable furniture like Malm, it’s worth taking a chance and seeing what stains can be removed.
I have personally removed many stains using simple tricks like a baking soda paste, without worrying much about the finish. Sure, it’s not the delicate approach that enthusiasts prefer, but for me, the results matter most.
So, if you’re not too cautious, feel free to experiment—just be careful.
You either love your Malm or you buy a new one—that’s sometimes just how it is! 😉
