I asked for the new Hemnes display cabinet from IKEA for my birthday and finally received it last Saturday. We had already expected some difficulties since this isn’t our first IKEA furniture piece that wasn’t completely straightforward to assemble, but oh well... here we go. 😕
Everything went quite smoothly at first, until it came to installing the bottom two drawers. That turned out to be impossible because the hinges were different lengths. The ones on the left seemed to fit, but the ones on the right were too long. This meant the drawer couldn’t be fully inserted or closed.
After a long time thinking about what we might have done wrong, I gave up and took the hinges back to IKEA. They opened another package, which surprisingly also contained two different hinges. Great, so I left the store again with those parts.
At home, after several attempts, it was still not possible to install the drawers correctly. My husband threatened to leave me if I ever brought home another IKEA furniture piece again. Which I can now really understand...
Maybe someone else has bought this cabinet and faced the same problem?
