After being a passive reader in this forum for a while, I decided to register. I’m a regular Ikea visitor and am planning to redecorate my living room soon.
Besta seems to fit well and is quite flexible, but I’m not completely sold on the colors. Black and dark brown or the wood pattern are out because the room would become too dark. I’m unsure about gray and red—wondering how quickly one might get tired of those. That leaves only white. Hmm. I think these color options were available last year as well. How long do these colors usually stay available on average? With the Billy shelves, the colors seem to change more or less regularly, if I’m not mistaken.

With BILLY, apart from the discontinuation of the plastic-coated "colorful" shelves, nothing else has happened for a very long time.
I can assure you that BESTA will not be available in a different color at least for the next year.
I’m also surprised that there has never been a light wood option with birch, for example, if you exclude the discontinued ash.
