Hello IKEA fans,

I just finished renovating my dining room and am now looking to buy some new furniture and decorations for it. Three walls are white, and on one wall I had a decorative wallpaper installed (in dark purple, with a vintage style). It looks great, but somehow it makes the room quite dark. I’m now thinking about how to balance this with some lighter accents and was hoping for some ideas...

So far, there’s a small dresser (not from IKEA), a cream-colored rug, and Henriksdal chairs. Since I still have an IKEA gift card, I’d like to buy the table, sideboard/dresser/cabinet, and decorations mostly from there. I really like the new Kejsakrona table – do you think it can be combined with Hemnes furniture, or would that not match? And what would you recommend for wall decor on the wallpapered wall? Are there maybe any nice purple decorations at IKEA that could help tie the wall color in elsewhere in the room, for example on the white walls or in other areas?

Looking forward to your suggestions 🙂

I think white goes very well with purple (or did I just eat too much Milka chocolate in the past?) and would choose the furniture accordingly. I would put matching pictures on the wall, probably with white frames.
A suitable wood tone for me would be birch, for example.

Hello IKEA expert,
I also thought that white would match the dark purple best.. By the way, I like eating Milka chocolate too 🙂 I also think birch wood looks nice, but I’m not a big fan of fake wood.. so I would prefer something solid... Did you have a specific IKEA piece of furniture in mind for birch?
