RemideoHello everyone,
I am planning to modify an Ikea Pax wardrobe soon and have several questions regarding its assembly and disassembly. The main question is: How long does it usually take to fully assemble and disassemble an Ikea Pax wardrobe that is about 200 to 250 cm (79 to 98 inches) tall and equipped with standard interior fittings?
I am interested both in the pure assembly time and any extra time needed for potential difficulties or staffing considerations. I want to estimate this realistically since the wardrobe will not only be assembled once but also disassembled for moving purposes.
I would be very grateful for your experience or tips, especially if you can provide typical times for average DIYers. Are there also differences in the time required when assembling the wardrobe alone or with two people?
Best regards!

The time required to assemble and disassemble an Ikea Pax wardrobe depends on several factors:
- model size,
- number of doors,
- internal fittings,
- experience of the assembler,
- number of people involved.
Based on various user reports and personal experience, average times per task range between approximately 2.5 and 4 hours.
This means that the complete cycle of assembly and disassembly with two people takes around 5 to 8 hours in total. Doing it alone will increase this time accordingly.

The time required for assembling and disassembling an Ikea Pax wardrobe depends on several factors:I can confirm this and add that the Pax model with sliding doors requires more effort to install than the version with hinged doors, as the tracks need to be adjusted more precisely. This can easily take an additional 30 to 60 minutes.
For assembly and disassembly, including fine-tuning, you should therefore allow about 3 to 5 hours per session, depending on the complexity of the setup.
My experience with disassembling an Ikea Pax during a move is as follows:
- Disassembly by two people takes about 3 hours
- Reassembly in the new home takes a bit longer, as all interior fittings need to be rearranged – around 3.5 to 4 hours.
A systematic approach to disassembly is important. It is advisable to allow some extra time, as minor issues often arise, such as stuck screws or adjustments to the doors.
