ᐅ How long does it take to assemble and disassemble an Ikea Pax wardrobe?

I am planning to modify an Ikea Pax wardrobe soon and have several questions regarding its assembly and disassembly. The main question is: How long does it usually take to fully assemble and disassemble an Ikea Pax wardrobe that is about 200 to 250 cm (79 to 98 inches) tall and equipped with standard interior fittings?

I am interested both in the pure assembly time and any extra time needed for potential difficulties or staffing considerations. I want to estimate this realistically since the wardrobe will not only be assembled once but also disassembled for moving purposes.

I would be very grateful for your experience or tips, especially if you can provide typical times for average DIYers. Are there also differences in the time required when assembling the wardrobe alone or with two people?

I dismantled my Pax (230cm (90 inches) high, two doors) alone in about 3 hours, which was quite quick. Reassembling took about the same amount of time if you follow the instructions. With two people, it can probably be done much faster.

I assembled the same model last week – with a friend, it took us just under 2.5 hours. However, you shouldn’t underestimate how tricky the doors can be 😉 When disassembling, make sure to organize the screws, otherwise it’s easy to lose track!

I can confirm this and add that the Pax model with sliding doors requires more effort to install than the version with hinged doors, as the tracks need to be adjusted more precisely. This can easily take an additional 30 to 60 minutes.

For assembly and disassembly, including fine-tuning, you should therefore allow about 3 to 5 hours per session, depending on the complexity of the setup.
