Hello everyone,

For my upcoming move, I need to transport my Ikea Pax wardrobe, and I want to do this as safely and damage-free as possible. My question is: How do you transport your Ikea Pax most securely? I'm especially interested in whether you completely disassemble it or leave parts assembled, which packing materials or padding you use, and if you apply any specific techniques to prevent scratches or warping. Are there additional tips for safely transporting it in a car or trailer? I appreciate all advice, as I really want to see the wardrobe reassembled without any damage.

It is best to completely disassemble everything. Pack all parts individually with bubble wrap or blankets.

Transport frames and doors separately to prevent scratches.

Keep screws in labeled bags.

This way, damage is definitely avoided.

As a general recommendation, dismantle the Ikea Pax completely before transportation. This minimizes the risk of warping and mechanical stress. The structure and swinging movements during transit can quickly cause damage to assembled furniture.

- Wrap all wooden parts individually with sturdy foam or felt materials to prevent scratches.
- Store and label screws, screw sets, and small parts separately.
- Transport flat panels lying down rather than standing up to avoid warping.
- Transporting in a well-padded van is ideal; if using a car, ensure a base area free of loose small parts that might rattle.

Additionally, I recommend protecting corners and edges carefully, as they are the most common points of damage. Securing the load with ratchet straps inside the vehicle provides extra safety.

Also, make sure that no direct weight is placed on glass doors or shelves.

Hey,

I moved my Pax last year, and at first, I wasn’t too keen on disassembling it, so I left it in parts but well padded.

- I used thick furniture blankets wrapped around each component, which worked really well.
- Also, I secured everything with a packing strap to keep it together and prevent shifting.

Sure, there were some minor scratches on the door, but my tip is to apply tape around the edges as a protective layer.

Sometimes a bit of improvisation helps when you don’t have a van—so it’s better to use a furniture blanket generously rather than too sparingly. 😉
