Good morning everyone, I plan to install an Ikea PAX system in my apartment on wooden plank floors. This raises a fundamental question for me: How can you securely and stably fix Ikea PAX units to wooden plank floors without damaging the planks or compromising the stability of the furniture? I am aware that wooden plank floors are often uneven and sensitive, so I am looking for good tips or proven solutions to reliably anchor the PAX system. Are there specific mounting methods, suitable anchors, or alternative fixings? I look forward to your opinions and experiences!

Rear wall brackets are the safest option.I agree. Sometimes there’s a temptation to firmly anchor the cabinet to the floor, but often it’s enough to ensure stability through wall mounting. I always feel uneasy drilling into floorboards, as that sounds like it could cause a lot of damage and issues.
Maybe the PAX wardrobe could also be secured to the floor using tension clamps, without drilling?

Does anyone have specific experience with this? Ideally, you’d want to keep the floor intact while still creating a secure connection.
I really like how many different options we are considering here! 🙂
Regarding the tension clamps: A practical alternative are wedges or small wooden strips that you slide under the bottom frame to prevent wobbling.
You can also use rubber mats as buffers underneath; they help with slight unevenness. This keeps the cabinet stable and protects the floor.
Important: Always secure the PAX with the included safety rails to the wall – this is absolutely necessary, especially when children are around.

In summary:
- Always secure PAX units to the wall.
- Screwing into wooden plank floors requires caution due to potential damage; pre-drill and proceed carefully.
- Distribute load using felt pads or battens under the cabinet.
- Alternatively, use point-specific tie-downs, if available.
With wooden plank flooring, the risk of permanent damage is high, so balance stability with substrate protection.
