ᐅ How do you prevent gaps between individual Kallax units?

Hello everyone, I am planning to place several Kallax shelves side by side to create a larger, continuous storage solution. I have noticed that unattractive gaps often appear between the individual units, even when carefully aligned. I am therefore interested in which techniques, tips, or other solutions you use to permanently prevent these gaps in Kallax shelving. I am especially curious if you use any specific mounting methods, connectors, or sealants that are reliable and visually appealing. I look forward to your experiences and recommendations.

I find it interesting that everyone here talks about angles, but somehow that’s just a compromise. The modules are designed to stand individually, not as a continuous unit. The only solution is more interior finishing or hiring a carpenter. The Ikea solution isn’t made-to-measure furniture, so you always have to account for some gap. Silicone only covers it up and doesn’t prevent it.

LIELCHEN’s statement is factually correct. The modules are standardly designed for individual use. Those who want a continuous surface without gaps must either make custom adjustments or use professional connectors. Alternatively, a surrounding trim or cladding can help create a seamless appearance and cover the gaps.

I would even go further and say that the entire Kallax system is traditionally overrated when planning more complex furniture solutions. While the modular construction is affordable, it is only somewhat suitable for precise fitting. Sometimes, less bulk combined with custom-made components would be a more elegant solution both visually and functionally.

Sure, that’s true, but the great thing is that with a few tricks, you can create really impressive results from simple IKEA modules! 🙂 It doesn’t take forever or cost a lot. The angle brackets are really practical and clever to get rid of gaps. Anyone can do this at home, and that always amazes me!

Especially because they provide mechanical fastening and not only push the modules together visually but also increase stability. It is important to mount the brackets close to the corners to ensure even load distribution. For multiple modules placed side by side, a combination of brackets and ground-level connectors is recommended to prevent tilting.
