Hello everyone, I am planning to assemble several Billy bookcases together and want to ensure they remain stable and durable over time. My main question is: How can Billy bookcases be assembled to last for a long time? I’m not only referring to correct assembly according to the instructions but also looking for tips on stabilizing and protecting the units—such as advice regarding dowels, screws, wall mounting, or material care. Additionally, I’m interested in the best way to handle heavy loads or multiple units combined, so nothing wobbles or breaks. I would really appreciate practical advice, possible tricks, and shared experiences!

Wall anchoring is essential. Oh yes, absolutely! That really makes the difference! I also connected my Billy shelves and fixed them to the wall – no movement, stable as a rock! 🙂
Small extras like felt pads under the feet also prevent scratches and provide extra protection.
Tip: Be patient during assembly! It’s better to spend an extra fifteen minutes but do it properly!
For increased stability when using multiple Billy shelves, I recommend connecting them with the included connectors. This creates a unified structure that reduces wobbling.
Installing all the back panels is also important, as they act as braces to prevent deformation. When loading, heavier items should be placed on the lower shelves.
