Hello everyone, I’m planning to secure an IKEA Pax wardrobe to wooden floors but have some uncertainties about the best method to do so. My wooden floors are quite delicate, and I want to ensure both the wardrobe’s stability and avoid damaging the floor. Are there recommended screws, anchors, or special fastening systems to consider when installing a Pax wardrobe on wooden floors? Also, how should the positioning be handled if wall fixings are only possible at certain points? I’m looking forward to any tips or experiences you can share!

Wall mounting is mandatory; otherwise, the Pax can tip over. When in doubt, it’s better to use strong anchors in the wall studs. Felt pads are sufficient for wooden floors. Screws in the floor are unnecessary and risky.

For clarification: The official IKEA instructions always recommend wall mounting using the supplied wall brackets and appropriate anchors according to the wall type. Screwing into wooden floors is not intended and may damage the floor, potentially affecting warranty claims.

If wall mounting is not possible, anti-slip pads are recommended as an additional measure for tile or wood floors. It is also important to check stability by connecting multiple PAX units with furniture connectors to prevent tipping.

Exactly, the stability largely depends on that. If you only screw into the drywall, it won't hold securely enough.

With wooden floors, screwing directly into the floor is not recommended and can damage the floor.

This should not be underestimated. Damage to the floor is costly and difficult to repair. When drilling pilot holes, be careful not to drill too deep.

In summary: fixing the wall to the wall framing combined with additional reinforcement using connectors is the best approach.

And that’s the main thing! 😄 So: Secure the cabinet to the wall with brackets, add some protection under the feet (felt, rubber, whatever), and the PAX will stand firmly. If you really want to fix it to the floor, I’d use thin screws and pre-drill, but only if there’s no other option. Otherwise, it’s better to attach it flexibly and smartly – that holds best and looks nicer too.
