I recently purchased and assembled an Ikea Platsa cabinet, but the doors close quite loudly, which is bothersome in our apartment. I am especially interested in how to reduce or completely prevent the noise without making major modifications. Are there specific mechanisms or tips to make the doors close more softly and quietly? It would also be helpful to know whether the hinges have adjustment options or if simple solutions like dampers or seals can be used to improve this. Does anyone have experience or recommendations on how to make door closing on the PLATSA systems more pleasant?

The simplest solution is to attach small self-adhesive furniture bumpers to the doors. This effectively dampens the sound. Alternatively, you can also adjust the door hinges to prevent the door from closing too quickly.

To make closing the Ikea PLATSA doors quieter, it is important to first check the hinges, as they are sometimes set quite tightly at the factory. I recommend the following step-by-step process:

- Check that the hinges are firmly screwed in and correctly installed. If the doors are not perfectly aligned, they tend to slam shut.
- Using an Allen key, you can often slightly loosen or adjust the hinges to reduce the closing pressure.
- Foam or silicone bumpers, mounted on the inside of the doors or the cabinet, help absorb impact.
- For even more comfort, special soft-close mechanisms can be retrofitted, which are sometimes available as accessories for PLATSA or can be installed universally.

Please note that not every option fits perfectly, depending on the model and production year. It would be helpful to know exactly which type of hinge is installed (standard or with damping) so the tips can be more targeted. Are you using PLATSA doors with glass fronts or solid door fronts?

This is a key point: hinges often have adjustment options for closing pressure and rebound.

Additionally, avoiding hard impacts is advisable. Soft buffers made of rubber or felt, which are carefully attached to the contact surfaces inside the cabinet, can significantly reduce noise with little effort.

Another aspect: the floor adjustments should be checked to ensure the doors do not hang crookedly, which can cause additional banging.

That sounds practical. Does anyone know which type or size of furniture bumpers work best here? There are different shapes (round, square) and materials (silicone, rubber).

Also, my PLATSA version doesn’t have soft-close hinges, so I can’t adjust much besides the door itself.

Is there a simple way to check if the doors are properly aligned, and how can I effectively correct this?

Regarding the topic "How to prevent Ikea PLATSA doors from being loud when closing," the following points:

- Much of the noise comes from the impact force of the door hitting the cabinet body when there is no cushioning.
- Installing self-adhesive damping bumpers on the inside corner of the doors (where the door meets the cabinet body) is effective and inexpensive.
- The most common bumpers are about 15 mm (0.6 inches) in diameter and made of silicone, as they are durable and provide smooth contact.
- Adjusting the hinges mainly affects the door alignment and the gap between doors, not the closing sound. However, it can make the bang louder or softer if the door hits the cabinet at an angle.
- PLATSA hinges do not always come with soft-close mechanisms. Retrofitting soft-close hinges is possible, but it should be checked whether the drill holes in the cabinet body are compatible.
- Precise door alignment using a spirit level and a protractor not only improves the appearance but also helps to avoid momentum- and impact noises.

In conclusion, I recommend starting with simple silicone bumpers and carefully checking the hinges.
