Hello everyone, I am currently planning my new kitchen and have been considering the Ikea Platsa system because it is flexible and relatively affordable. However, I am now focusing on the specific question: How can I best combine Ikea Platsa units in the kitchen to optimize both storage space and functionality? I am especially interested in how the individual components can be effectively integrated, whether expansions are possible, and how the system accommodates the installation of appliances. Does anyone have experience or tips on which combinations have proven successful and what to pay special attention to when assembling the units? I look forward to your feedback and ideas.

The different heights are great for cleverly stacking storage space.

That’s true, but it’s also important to critically consider whether Ikea Platsa’s construction is truly ideal for the constant load in a kitchen. Is the mechanical stability of taller, combined modules guaranteed in the long term?

Additionally, the question arises whether the modular panel systems provide a hygienically optimal solution – flexibility is definitely a plus, but especially in kitchen environments, material durability and ease of cleaning are essential.

It would be interesting to see user experiences regarding long-term satisfaction with Platsa in such a setting. Compromises can also occur when integrating appliances, which should be carefully evaluated beforehand.

A central challenge for me would be combining storage and work surfaces in a compact area.

In your case, with an almost square kitchen, a U- or L-shaped layout with Platsa modules would work well. You can use the different heights of the Platsa units to separate the work area from the storage space.

- Use low modules (51 cm [20 inches] high) as work surfaces.
- Taller modules (100 cm [39 inches]) are ideal for pantry cabinets or appliance integration.

Integrating electrical appliances often requires modifications, so check if the planned openings are compatible with the appliance specifications.

Also, take advantage of corner solutions to maximize storage space. Additionally, consider well-organized interior drawers that make access easier.
