Hello everyone, I am looking for tips on how to effectively prevent paint damage on Malm furniture. I understand that these pieces are especially sensitive to scratches, chipping, or discoloration due to their MDF construction and painted surface. What are your proven methods for keeping the surfaces looking flawless for as long as possible? Do you use any special care products or protective films? Which everyday precautions do you consider most important to avoid unpleasant damage? I look forward to detailed answers and experiences.

Another, less obvious cause of paint damage is the interaction with other materials. For example, metal legs of chairs or coffee tables often leave small scratches or pressure marks.

It is recommended to attach felt pads or soft cushioning under these items. Additionally, long-term moisture under vases or plant pots can cause the edges of MDF to swell, leading to paint peeling. Therefore, using coasters and ensuring air circulation is essential.

This is an issue that is often overlooked with Malm furniture. I’ve experienced problems with dark water stains myself, even though I thought I was being careful. Tip: If you place flowers on Malm furniture, it’s best not to put them directly on the furniture. Instead, use a tray with a waterproof surface underneath. This will protect your finish and also provide a neat appearance.
