Hello everyone, I am planning to equip my new kitchen soon with IKEA Metod tall cabinets. Since I have relatively little experience assembling large furniture, I would like to know: How can I assemble IKEA Metod tall cabinets easily and securely to ensure nothing goes wrong and all cabinets end up standing stable? Are there any special tips for installation that I should definitely pay attention to, especially regarding wall mounting and assembling the modules? I look forward to your tips and experiences!

Hello Joachimfi, regarding your question: It is advisable to assemble the tall cabinets completely first and then fix them to the wall as a single unit. This way, you can ensure that all modules are flush and properly aligned. You can use tools like a spirit level to make sure everything is straight. This also makes wall mounting easier because the load is evenly distributed.

If you mount and fix the tall cabinets to the wall individually, small differences in positioning may cause problems when joining the modules. Additionally, it will be more difficult to achieve a precise and stable connection between the individual cabinets.

My advice: Assemble the cabinets fully, fasten them securely with screws, then have two people attach brackets and fix the unit to the wall.

In addition to previous speakers: For the secure wall mounting of IKEA Metod tall cabinets, the standard recommendation is to attach the cabinets to the wall with at least two fixing points, preferably on solid wall sections (e.g., masonry, load-bearing wall). When mounting on drywall partitions, appropriate anchors (toggle bolts or metal toggle anchors) designed for the loads must be used.

It is advisable to align the cabinets perfectly perpendicular to the wall, using a spirit level and stop strips. Connecting fittings between the cabinets must be fully installed and tightened to prevent tipping hazards.

Attaching the back panel structure increases stability and should be done before mounting the cabinets on the wall. In general, it is better to fully assemble the units before wall fixing to ensure accuracy.

Hey everyone, we assembled our Metod tall cabinets last weekend, and I can tell you: it’s definitely worth taking your time! 😊 A small tip that really helped us was to tighten all the screws again at the end, after the cabinets are mounted on the wall. During assembly, everything tends to settle slightly, especially if you move things around a bit.

Also, angle pins and screwdrivers with long handles are great for installing hinges and flat connectors. A little fun fact: our kitten decided to “help out” and hid a few screws. 😄 So make sure to keep an eye on your screws!

Keep going—you’ve got this!
