Hello everyone, I am currently facing some uncertainties while installing Ikea Metod angled cabinets and hope to get some expert advice here. Specifically, it concerns the correct installation of these special base cabinets with an angle, which are usually installed under sloped rooflines. My questions are: How do I securely and stably fix these angled elements to the standard Metod cabinets and simultaneously attach them properly to the wall? Are there particular considerations for alignment to ensure there are no gaps or uneven seams later on?

I am also interested in recommendations for the optimal connection between the angled cabinet and the standard base unit, especially regarding the fasteners used and the orientation of the cabinet fronts. Has anyone had experience with additional preparations or modifications needed, such as for cutting countertops or backing panels in these areas?

Thanks in advance for any tips and step-by-step instructions!

The slanted elements are normally screwed to the standard Metodo cabinets using the supplied connectors. For wall mounting, make sure to use test wood or anchors to ensure stability. When aligning, first fix the height, then the depth, so that the fronts align neatly.

Regarding slanted elements under roof slopes: Installation requires precise work, especially in terms of alignment and fastening. It is important that you first measure the exact angles of your slope and adjust the cabinets accordingly. Metod slanted elements are designed to be screwed onto the cabinet carcass, often using special angle connectors that are included. For wall mounting, you should use suitable anchors, depending on the substrate (e.g., cavity wall anchors for drywall). I also recommend: - Assemble the cabinets loosely first and install the fronts as a test run - Then fix the slanted element on one side only - Check with a spirit level; even small deviations can affect the appearance later - Adjust the countertop before fastening, as the slope often requires a wedge shape - If necessary, cut the back panels from thinner material and fit them precisely If you follow these points, the result should be stable and visually neat. What exact slope do you have?

Thank you for the detailed information. The roof slope is approximately 30 degrees, measured from the floor. I have a slanted element measuring 60 x 60 cm (24 x 24 inches), which is meant to be connected to a standard 80 cm (31.5 inches) deep Metod base cabinet. My concern is that when screwing it together, I might not align the element precisely to the millimeter, which could cause the front panel to be uneven or the worktop not to sit properly. Do you have any experience with achieving precise millimeter alignment before screwing? What do you use for this, such as special clamps or adjustment tools?

For precise alignment, I recommend temporarily positioning the angled element using spacer strips or wedges. This way, you can ensure that the fronts are exactly on the same level. A small trick: place a scrap piece of wood under the feet of the angled element to compensate for slight height differences before screwing it in. A spirit level and protractor are your most important tools. Additionally, you can use clamps to hold the cabinets in place, if available, to have more control while connecting them. Try assembling the fronts beforehand, as they are often hung separately and can be adjusted slightly to compensate for minor inaccuracies.

I am adding some technical details: The Metod angled elements usually come with a specific drilling jig for the correct positioning of the screws. Use this for precise fastening. For the connection between the standard base cabinet and the angled element, the supplied metal connectors are generally sufficient. It is important that the adjacent fronts are installed exactly at the same height to avoid gaps. For wall mounting, use direct anchors and screws, not nails or adhesives. When cutting the countertop, make sure to accurately replicate the angle, as countertops are often relatively thick, and both thickness and angle at the slope are crucial for a proper fit. If you are joining countertops, use an angled joint rather than a straight one to achieve better stability and appearance.
