Hello everyone, I am currently facing the task of assembling an IKEA Metod kitchen unit with a corner solution in a stable way. Since these corner solutions are often considered challenging, I want to make sure that everything will hold firmly and that no wobbly spots develop later on. Specifically, I am interested in which methods and tools you recommend for connecting and securing the corner units so that they remain solid and durable over time. This includes the choice of fasteners (screws, brackets, dowels, etc.) as well as the assembly process itself—for example, whether certain sequences should be followed to avoid unwanted misalignment or looseness. Has anyone experienced stability issues with Metod corner units and can offer advice on what to pay special attention to?

I recommend always using additional screws or brackets that IKEA does not provide.

It may be that their components are too delicate, but I used IKEA materials myself and simply reinforced them with brackets on the inside. That worked well. However, I didn’t rely solely on IKEA solutions but strengthened the whole assembly with extra brackets. It’s better to think ahead and not treat the Metod corner as just a fixed part of the whole.

You need to check all connections several times and tighten the screws carefully – not too tight, but not loose either. Fill any gaps with silicone or sealant, which will slightly increase stability.

I would recommend, if possible, also securing the cabinet body to the wall. Especially corner solutions that bear a lot of weight need a solid attachment to the wall. This helps prevent wobbling or loosening later on.
