Hello everyone, I noticed that one of the doors on my Ikea Pax sliding door system is rubbing when opening and closing and no longer moves smoothly along the track. Specifically, it seems that the door is catching on the lower track near the frame and feels a bit stiff, which wasn’t the case before. I would like to try fixing this myself but am not sure how to approach the common causes. What steps are recommended to identify the issue and restore smooth operation of the mechanism without damaging the door or the track? Additionally, any advice on replacing rollers or sliding tracks would be helpful – are compatible spare parts available from Ikea, and how complicated is the replacement process? Thanks in advance for any useful tips!

Hello ralf52 and everyone else reading along! I’m glad to see that the basics of repairing the Pax sliding door systems have already been discussed so thoroughly here.

I’d like to add that the alignment of the frame often plays a role as well. If the wardrobe is not perfectly flush against the wall or the floor is uneven, door rubbing can increase. Therefore, if you’re having issues, it’s a good idea to check the frame mounting before repairing the rollers and, if necessary, make slight adjustments to the wardrobe itself.

If the doors rub, sometimes removing the sliding track from the rail and applying a little silicone spray or graphite powder to lubricate helps.

That works great for me too and extends the life of the mechanism.

Good luck to everyone trying this yourself – you can do it!
