Hello everyone,

Some time ago, I bought an Ikea PAX system for my bedroom and I’m very satisfied with the wardrobe’s flexibility. However, I would like to make the doors lockable because I also store sensitive documents and small valuables inside.

Since PAX systems are generally not equipped with locks or latches from Ikea, I’m looking for practical ways to securely lock the doors.

It is important to me that the solution matches the furniture aesthetically, is easy to install, and can be implemented without causing significant damage to the cabinet or the doors.

Does anyone have good tips or maybe even accessories specifically designed for PAX doors? Recommendations for retrofit locks that can be installed with minimal effort are also very welcome.

Thanks in advance for your replies!

If you absolutely want to avoid drilling or routing, you can also use clamp-on or surface-mounted locks that you install on the inside.

That would be the best option for me. I want to avoid any visible damage or alterations to the exterior of the doors as much as possible.

Yes, please. It would be great if you could suggest a few options with different price and comfort levels.

Hello pesimi,

I also use clamp locks for my Pax wardrobe. Installation is quick, and they are invisible from the outside. The only important thing is that the clamping force is strong enough to prevent the lock from slipping.

One tip: Before buying, check if the clamp opening is wide enough for your door thickness.

I bought magnetic locks where the bolt is located inside and is unlocked with a magnetic key. Advantage: no visible locks or handles on the outside.

Installation is quite simple, you only need to drill a small hole for the bolt. They feel very high quality and are available in different versions.

Thank you, that’s important. My doors are 18 mm (0.7 inches) thick, so I will look for locks that can open at least 18 mm (0.7 inches).

I will carefully consider whether to drill the hole or if I should rather look for something completely without drilling.

Thank you for all the helpful ideas so far!
