Hello everyone, I am planning to equip my Ikea Pax wardrobe with integrated lighting to improve the visibility inside and create an appealing atmosphere at the same time. My specific question is: which lighting solutions are best suited for an Ikea Pax, especially regarding easy installation, power supply, and the possibility to individually illuminate different sections? I am also interested in practical tips on control methods, such as whether LED strips, motion sensors, or wireless options work better. Any advice on materials and installation techniques would also be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Can you maybe explain in more detail how a control system with multiple LED strips basically works in a Pax?
Sure, I’m happy to explain:

- You can power multiple LED strips with a single power supply, but the total power (wattage) of the power supply must be sufficient.
- For separate control, use a multi-channel controller that controls one LED strip or several strips together per channel.
- These controllers often come as wireless devices with remote controls or can be operated via an app using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
- The controllers are placed between the power supply and the LED strips—this lets you switch or dim each area individually.
- Make sure all LED strips have the same voltage (usually 12 volts) to ensure compatibility.
- Cable management is important: use cable ducts or clips to keep the wiring neat.

If you have little DIY experience, I recommend buying the components as a set. This will help avoid mistakes and complicated wiring.

Do I need multiple power supplies for this, or can I use just one?
In most cases, you only need one power supply if it has enough capacity. A multi-channel LED controller is connected in between and controls the individual strips separately.

I would like to add: If you plan to install motion sensors combined with LED strips, make sure to carefully check the sensor technology regarding response time and detection angle – some sensors are too sensitive and may turn the lights on even due to unrelated movements (e.g., elsewhere in the room).

Also, pay attention to the brightness of the LED strips – warm white feels more comfortable and is often better suited for living areas than cool white.

Finally, regarding installation: Avoid attaching LED strips directly to rough surfaces, as the adhesive may not hold permanently. Smooth molding or plexiglass surfaces are better suited.
