After seeing in various posts here how floor plans have significantly improved through comments from other members, I am sharing ours as well. (I hope this works...)
The kitchen layout looks different in reality, as that part of the planning is already finalized. It’s still unclear how best to arrange the living room (I’d be happy to hear any good ideas). The bathroom upstairs is another uncertain area; we generally like it, but maybe the washing machine and dryer should be moved to the utility room (under the mechanical ventilation system).
Oh, and the orientation might be important: the entrance is on the north side, so the living and children’s rooms face south. We have two full floors, so the roof slope does not need to be taken into account.

Where do you hang the laundry? In the library, or does everything go into the energy- and fabric-consuming tumble dryer?Yes, that is exactly the question... So far, we don’t have a tumble dryer, and in the apartment the drying rack just sits in the hallway. Not very nice.
In summer, we hope to dry laundry outside. But in winter? A tumble dryer, and maybe hanging whatever doesn’t fit there in the bathroom?
Keep the bathroom free from work-related activities!
Seriously: when the washing machine is running, it can get quite noisy. New machines also run for about 2.5 hours, followed by the dryer for 2 hours (which, by the way, doesn’t damage clothes but works really well). So, relaxing or taking a bath is out of the question during this time. And with a family of four, the machine probably runs more often than once a week...? I would also recommend planning for two washbasins.
On the ground floor, I would suggest placing the door to the living area centered on the window front, and then also positioning the dining table centrally in that space. The kitchen island should be closer to the main kitchen line; otherwise, the distances become too long. Perhaps a central wall about 2 meters (6.5 feet) wide could separate the dining and living areas?
A cloakroom is a good idea!
For the utility room: place the mechanical ventilation system under the ceiling, preferably grouping all technical installations in one corner (see plan below), so you have more free space.

Thank you for the tips.
The controlled residential ventilation system is mounted under the ceiling, so a washing machine and dryer could be placed underneath it easily. We have seen this setup quite often.
The kitchen layout doesn't fit as it is; I will see if I can get it set up correctly.
