Hello everyone,

Does anyone here have the hand shower from Hansgrohe

- Raindance Select S 120 3jet with EcoSmart (9 liters/min)

or

- Rainfinity 3jet with EcoSmart (9 liters/min)

According to Hansgrohe marketing, the Raindance features "RainAir (rich, soft rain spray enriched with air),"

while the Rainfinity offers "PowderRain (extra-fine, enveloping rain)."

Which one do you think is more comfortable and better for everyday showering? Can anyone share their experience?

Best regards

Hey,

we currently have the built-in Raininfinity 3jet and a small, separate shower head, the Rainair. When I was at my parents’ place, I used to shower with a built-in shower head combined with the Rainair.

Honestly, when we ordered the shower head online, we weren’t quite sure what to expect from the "Rainpowder" setting. But the video looked great.
In the end, I have to say that Rainpowder actually describes it very well. It’s somewhat like a slightly heavier drizzle, but more concentrated. Very gentle. This also applies to the steam generation, which in my opinion is noticeably stronger than with the Rainair. The Rainair is more like the typical shower experience, just much softer due to the air mixture. Because we have the separate shower head, we get both experiences, but if I had to choose only one, it would be the older model with Rainair. It’s also more attractive price-wise.

Please make sure the pipes are designed for this if you’re not building a new property. Unless you’re replacing the plumbing anyway. We needed a new drain and a new supply pipe because neither was designed for the water volume. Maybe it would have worked anyway, but I didn’t want to risk having a rain shower that only drips lightly.

Oh, and none of this is the Eco version. I’m actually curious how that one is and whether it works satisfactorily. Somehow, the flow rate of an Eco model with 9 liters per minute (2.4 gallons per minute) seemed too low for such a large shower head to me. That’s why I decided against the Eco version.

Thanks for your reply. Hmm, this decision is not easy for me. I guess the only way is to try it out.

No, we only want the handheld showerhead and no fixed installation, so I think 9 liters per minute (2.4 gallons per minute) should be sufficient. Especially since we only have a 300-liter (79-gallon) hot water tank for the planned 4 people. A proper rain shower with 30 liters per minute (7.9 gallons per minute) wouldn’t be ideal in this case.

We have both.
"RainDance" is well known. It includes air that breaks the continuous stream into droplets. You can get it for around €20 (about $22) at the hardware store, so most people are probably familiar with it.
PowderRain is much finer. It’s almost like a mist. Advantages: it splashes very little, is very quiet, and feels more like being in a fog rather than a water jet. Disadvantages, in my opinion, are that due to the even higher amount of air mixed in, the "stream" feels cooler, meaning you have to turn up the hot water temperature. Also, the bathroom reliably turns into a foggy chamber, so you need to ventilate thoroughly afterwards.

So if you choose one and primarily want to shower in a "normal" way, then probably the RainDance / RainAir, right?

I do think so, yes.
