Hello experts,

maybe you can help me.

My incompetent tiler installed the tiles in our bathroom. My mother had purchased the above-mentioned Hansgrohe waste bin Xtrastoris. He was not supposed to install it yet because the electrician and plumber still needed access to the waste bin opening to run the electrical wiring and water pipes for the toilet. However, he installed it anyway because he wanted to get back at the electrician – since then, he has of course been unreachable.

Hansgrohe came by and said it was installed incorrectly. It seems he glued it firmly on the left and right sides with tile adhesive (I’m not sure about the back). The adhesive used was Sopro FKM 600.

How can we remove the waste bin without damaging the tiles? We have already tried various thin, long, sharp knives and saws, but nothing worked. It has to come out somehow.

Best regards,
Knut

Difficult. I would try to create a cut joint around the affected tiles and remove them using a multitool. Any remaining adhesive then needs to be sanded off. A lot of work.
If not everything has been paid yet: withhold the payment.

Can you recommend a multitool?

I haven’t compared much. My cordless tools are from Metabo. Their multi-tool works well, and I also find it easy to handle. Others will surely have similar options.

How do you do that then, or what would you recommend, which adapter/attachment, etc.?

I would decide on-site with the instructions. Probably a segmented saw blade for cutting into the joint, and one of the scrapers for loosening.
