Good day!

After 20 years, the Hansa handheld shower in my shower has finally given out; water is leaking from the seam between the two housing parts. I had to find out, however, that the Hansgrohe showerhead I quickly bought for 50 euros behaves just like I’ve often been annoyed to see in hotels — it delivers far too little pressure, and this applies to all three spray settings.

Does anyone happen to know of a handheld shower that delivers strong water pressure, like my previous one? One detail that’s also important, but rarely mentioned anywhere: I would like a threaded connection that rotates freely during normal use, so the hose doesn’t force the showerhead into a fixed angle. Hansa solved this back then by designing the thread so that when screwing on the hose, you push the thread in slightly to lock it, but otherwise it turns freely. Is something like this still available today?

Thank you!

The power comes from the water pressure, so you can use any showerhead. If the water pressure is insufficient, even the best handheld shower will not help.

Well, it worked before. So it seems there are showerheads designed for higher or lower water pressure.

Does it have a water-saving insert in it?

Showerheads designed for hotels are usually focused on water savings for various reasons. Ours are limited to a maximum of 6L/min (1.6 gallons/min). Your new showerhead is likely similar.

Sometimes there is a simple flow restrictor inside, as T_im_Norden mentions, which can be removed. Sometimes they are built that way, so take a look and see how it is constructed.

I opened the thing from the back: When I remove the small filter, there is a small black rubber ring that covers the openings behind it. I took it out now. However, no difference: The jet remains too weak.
