Hello, we have planned a shower measuring 75x90cm (29x35 inches) in our guest bathroom. It is enclosed by walls and has an entrance area that is 60cm (24 inches) wide.
Now we want to install a standard surface-mounted shower valve with a thermostat, etc.
I am wondering where the best location for the valve would be—centered on the long side as shown, or rather on the short side? Maybe even in a corner?
I will likely need to use this shower when the children are older, so it will be used later on.

Upstairs, we have a shower measuring 90x120cm (35x47 inches), which is also enclosed by walls. The same question applies there.

Thanks for your input.

That looks good, but then the showerhead would still be facing the exit. People don’t usually walk all the way to the end of the shower anyway.
I think I’ll leave it as shown in the attachment, hoping it will still fit.
In any case, the valve would be very intrusive if it were on the long side.
Thank you very much for your help.

Based on a gut feeling, I would say that the shower sprays more to the side than in the direction the showerhead is pointing. Usually, the showerhead only has a slight tilt, and the water tends to hit the body mostly head-on, causing the spray to be deflected more to the side.

Good luck. Feel free to share how it goes.

I would also place both on the short side. When showering, as shown in your own drawing, you tend to bump your elbow, hip, or something else on the fixtures otherwise. At least, that's how I imagine it.

The user should show some photos of their hip.

That won’t be the issue. I will report back. Hopefully, only good news.

It’s me again.
So, I’m planning to install the faucet and showerhead on the short side, but would you position the showerhead in the center or pointing away from the shower entrance? It’s just a wall, no door, so the goal is to minimize water splashing out.
