Hello!
I need your creative and professional advice for shower lighting in a new build.
The bathroom floor plan is attached.
The shower will be a walk-in shower with a total size of 100x160 cm (approximately 40x63 inches), making use of the entire corner. The water connection is located on the "top wall," where a rain shower head will be installed, extending 30 to 60 cm (12 to 24 inches) into the shower.
After searching online, we are still unsure about the most modern and practical lighting solution. We would prefer recessed ceiling spotlights.
Now the question:
What would you choose – 2 spotlights (positioned 50 cm and 100 cm (20 and 40 inches) from the top wall) or better 3 (at 25, 75, 125 cm / 10, 30, 50 inches), 4 arranged in a square, or something completely different?
What is best: LED? Low-voltage halogen? Dimmable? What wattage? Is there a universal product on the market that is most commonly used?
Based on my research, the protection rating should be IP65, right?
Thank you in advance!

Schmidt786 Feb 2014 10:23And one more question: What do you think about LED wall lights (up-down lights) instead of ceiling spotlights?
I would have the lighting controlled separately from the corner on the right (at the wall by the washbasin). I would make the main ceiling light dimmable (it is more comfortable when taking a bath). For the shower, you need a bit more light, so don’t dim it (as mentioned before: unless you have extra capacity). I would avoid wall-mounted spotlights, as they do take up some space in the shower.

Doc.Schnaggls6 Feb 2014 10:45Hello,
I would also avoid installing up-down lights in the shower.
On one hand, as ypg already mentioned, they take up space – on the other hand, when showering, I would probably bump my head or hands against them from time to time…
Regards,
Dirk

What would you think about two 5.5 W LEDs without dimming?
Maybe installed centered at 25cm (so that it’s not directly above the rain shower) and at 1m (39 inches)? Or would it be better to have two side by side at 80cm (31.5 inches)? But then I’m worried you might “stand in the light” and the shower area might not get enough light...
Or would two of those be too dim?

The installation would be in a brick ceiling, by the way. Is there anything special to consider?
