I’ve fallen in love with a beautiful brick… Unfortunately, it’s a ceramic facing brick (Röben Aarhus white-gray). This would not only cost me an extra charge for the brick itself but also significantly higher labor costs because of the more complex installation :-(

I’ve been searching through all kinds of brick manufacturers for several days now, but it seems this color is only available in “premium” options :p

My general contractor said that light (gray) bricks are currently in trend, so that’s my hope:

Does anyone here know of an alternative to this brick? 😎

Then I really find the price reasonable. However, when invoicing, be sure to deduct the cost of larger windows.

but also because I like the color scheme and it is not a ceramic brick
In your opinion, how is the desired color tone achieved in the brick?

This actually comes from the raw material, which can range in color from red to yellow, white, gray, and even brown/black after it has been fired. The more affordable option is then simply painting/glazing/engobing.

Oops, it should have been “engobe,” of course. Greetings to autocorrect...

Since none of the other light gray bricks appealed to us in terms of style, and we were convinced by the texture of the Wienerberger bricks, we switched to a different light shade but stayed with the same manufacturer.

@Sjani
Which brick did you decide on then?

Thank you for this information, that doesn’t sound very good 😳 How long has your neighbor been using that brick cladding?

I didn’t specifically choose the brick cladding because it was cheap (to be honest, I haven’t researched that yet), but because I like the color and it is not ceramic brick. Unfortunately, it’s not just about the €30 per square meter (about $32 per square yard), but also the additional labor costs. Overall, I was quoted an extra cost of at least €12,000 (about $13,000) for using the Aarhus.

Don’t get me wrong. I understand that especially good quality usually means higher costs. In the end, I have to decide “which option I am willing to accept.”
But since I still have some time before I have to make the decision, I can happily keep looking. Other potential options are the Vandersanden facing bricks Rega or Rainbow Silver.

About 18 months.
12k is a lot... How many square meters?
