I’ve fallen in love with a beautiful brick… Unfortunately, it’s a ceramic facing brick (Röben Aarhus white-gray). This would not only cost me an extra charge for the brick itself but also significantly higher labor costs because of the more complex installation :-(
I’ve been searching through all kinds of brick manufacturers for several days now, but it seems this color is only available in “premium” options :p
My general contractor said that light (gray) bricks are currently in trend, so that’s my hope:
Does anyone here know of an alternative to this brick? 😎

Alright, now we just need to find out how we can get in direct contact. Unfortunately, private messages (PMs) are not an option for now. Do you have a publicly available email address? You can reach me at captainsam@gmx.net

Thank you all for your opinions.
Finding the right facing brick is really not easy :p
To make things harder, some manufacturers no longer provide reference projects due to privacy reasons, or there are simply very few examples in certain color shades… which makes it difficult to get a clear impression.
For me, the "Margate" from Röben has now made it to the shortlist. I’ve already seen some nice photos and spoken with satisfied homeowners. May I give you some feedback on this facing brick?
I know this brick firsthand.
It costs half as much as the aahus.
However, it is only colored on the surface. My neighbor even sued Röben because this brick shows rust stains.
How much do you save per m² (10.8 ft²), about €30?
I would never put up with that in my life.
This is my personal opinion based on my experience gathered over time.
As much as I was satisfied with Röben’s facing bricks, I was equally disappointed with their roof tiles.
The dimensional tolerances, durability—everything was really poor quality.
Thank you for this information, that does sound less appealing 😳 How long has your neighbor been using that brick?
I didn’t specifically choose the brick because it is cheap (to be honest, I haven’t researched that yet), but because I like the color and, importantly, it’s not a ceramic brick. Unfortunately, it’s not just about the €30 per square meter (about $32 per square yard), but also the additional labor costs. Overall, I was quoted an extra cost of at least €12,000 (about $13,000) for using the Aarhus.
Don’t get me wrong. I understand that especially good quality usually means higher prices. In the end, I have to decide “which option I can live with.” But since I still have some time before I need to make a decision, I’m happily continuing to look. Other possible candidates are the Vandersanden facing bricks Rega or Rainbow Silver.
