Good morning everyone,

The topic of burglary protection is very important to me. I have recently read that many windows do not meet safety requirements. I am now a bit uncertain because I am planning to replace the windows in our older house in the spring.

I would appreciate any tips or recommendations on what types of windows would be suitable.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi,

Of course, it is difficult to make a recommendation. The police departments in the cantons regularly provide information. You can simply check there. They also have contacts with reliable companies, so just inquire with them. What is important is the resistance class these windows should have. Also, these windows must be certified.

The police are a good contact for these issues. They also often offer seminars on burglary protection. I think you are looking for windows with resistance class 5.

From my experience: these windows are very expensive and only offer limited protection. If someone wants to break into the house, they will find a way. I used to work as a locksmith and often forced open various windows.

I believe the best combination is windows with resistance class 3 and roller shutters with anti-lift devices. Also, lights with motion sensors are effective. No burglar will try to force open a window under full lighting.

Hello,

There are no windows that are completely break-in proof. Good windows only make breaking in more difficult. I have personally conducted seminars on this topic, and in such cases, it is advisable to consult the police. They often come on-site to inspect the windows and especially the exits. They then provide guidance on what absolutely needs to be changed. No general advice can be given in this regard.

I agree with that. We will install windows with integrated ventilation. This eliminates the need to open the window, providing an additional layer of protection. They also feature multiple glazing layers, which prevents any initial penetration. Additionally, they are more difficult to pry open.

Hello,

Exactly, and I agree with that. It is important to place value on the burglary resistance class (WK). This makes access to the house more difficult. Both the windows and the front door play a crucial role in this.
