Hello! We are building a single-family bungalow with a basement! The double garage is located under the living room and is the coldest room in the house! The ground floor floor consists of an 11cm (4.3 inches) subfloor (styrofoam/insulation, underfloor heating), with an additional 6cm (2.4 inches) of screed on top! Now to my question: does it make sense to add an extra layer of Styrodur (extruded polystyrene) insulation to the basement ceiling? Otherwise, I would leave the ceiling bare (concrete)...

Well, if the "rest" is just as "professionally competent," you can expect a few surprises! Hopefully, he has adequately accounted for the heat loss beneath the heating layer in the underfloor heating system.
Best regards.Don’t scare me..... we still have quite a bit of work ahead of us....

Our heating installer said he wouldn’t do it, because the garage would be very cold then, as it would be completely outside the thermal envelope!
He thinks we wouldn’t lose that much energy through the ceiling!Impressive! I’ve never heard such a statement before. Heating the garage through the living space above it. Really amazing.
My advice: better wait until your planner returns from vacation. Or just give them a call. And definitely don’t listen to your heating installer..........
Is there no thermal insulation verification? A detailed execution plan?
