We didn’t really want to turn the bed because we like to look out of the window when lying in bed. If we kept it as it is, we would need to change the windows, of course. My concern about swapping the rooms was the long walking distances.... but you could move the door a bit to the right, then it should work, right?

Yes, you are probably right... You always imagine it so nicely, but in the end, what really matters is whether it is practical.
Do you know if it is possible to move the straight staircase slightly upwards so that the door to Child 1’s bedroom can be moved down? That way, all the entrances would be together.
