Hello, neighbors of ours have serious problems with their flat roof within the warranty period. In some areas, the wood underneath the PVC layer is rotted or decayed, and the wood comes apart by hand. The issue is now being handled by an expert who partially sank during the roof inspection. Our roof is older, built by other tradespeople (same general contractor) and just outside the warranty period. I was on the roof today and didn’t notice anything; I tested it a bit by applying pressure. Does it still make sense to get an expert for safety, even though we are about 4 months past the warranty period? Attached is a photo.

hampshire20 Nov 2019 17:46We designed the central part of our timber house with a flat roof – including gravel and green roofing. The beam spacing is naturally tighter and stronger, which does add some extra cost, as with anything that improves structural stability. It’s not the “wood” material itself, but the construction method that matters.

Well, basically we are satisfied. We also don’t see any mold or stains, etc.
We know that a flat roof isn’t the ultimate solution, and the same goes for the wood.
So we will just save up even more money.
I hope we can hold out for 15 years. Man, HilfeHilfe, now I’m really surprised. From your posts, I assumed you were wallpapering your walls with 100-dollar bills. At least that’s the impression you get when others say the budget might get tight.

It’s not as expensive as you might think. Under €90 per square meter (about $1 per sq ft). Correct. But I chose pounds instead. They match the furniture colors better. I don’t pay much attention to money... appearance is what matters.
