we are planning a direct access from the garage to the house and have been told that we need to install a T30 door. However, since we want the house entrance to be keyless, the builder is facing this requirement as a challenge. There are not many suppliers offering a T30 door with a motorized lock and a matching fingerprint scanner.
Therefore, we are wondering if this T30 door is legally required at all. If it is, what would happen if we install the garage at a later date, after the house handover? Would it then be possible to install a secondary entrance door instead?
Thank you for your feedback!

Don’t take this the wrong way, but in my opinion, anything other than a fire-rated door is irresponsible.
There is at least one keyless system from Burg-Wächter that I know of, which can be installed in any standard cylinder lock. So I don’t accept that “excuse.”

frank_gayer11 Oct 2017 17:15Thanks for the tip. In that case, we'll go with the wireless solution from Burg Wächter instead of the fixed wiring, and that should be fine. I don't want to have any trouble with the insurance.
Hello Frank
I have installed a safe door with security rating B, weighing 235 kg (518 lbs), and electronic combination locks on both sides as the door between the garage and the basement. This was not sufficient. A T30 fire door had to be installed. Now, looking from the garage, there is a safe door, and 40 cm (16 inches) further on, a fire protection door.
A T30 door costs only about 200 euros. I installed it myself. Calling this door burglary-resistant would be an overstatement. It doesn’t withstand much. So, I would not recommend using such a door as a secondary entrance door.
