Hello everyone,

Our move-in date for the new build is approaching, and we are thinking about the final cleaning of the house before we move in.
The general contractor hands over the house broom clean, which is definitely not clean enough for us.
All floors would need to be thoroughly cleaned again, any paint splatters or similar marks removed if necessary, dust residues cleaned from all surfaces, and especially the windows cleaned both inside and outside, including the frames.

What have your experiences been with this before moving in?
Did you do the cleaning yourselves or did you hire a professional? If you hired a professional, what did you pay?

What I actually find quite practical is cleaning the windows and frames yourself. This way, you inevitably inspect each window and frame closely and can identify any defects or damage. Our building inspector recommended this. And it’s best to do it before the final inspection.

We also actually noticed some minor flaws that we probably would have only seen later or maybe not at all if a company had done the cleaning.
