MarialouisaKent31 Oct 2015 08:46I would like to share my experience with the OTROLIG induction cooktop. First of all: if I were IKEA, I would remove this cooktop from the market.
We chose the OTROLIG because we already had an induction cooktop in our previous apartment and had very good experiences with it. The OTROLIG design appealed to us the most out of all the cooktops we considered (and we also compared options outside of IKEA).
Unfortunately, in my personal experience, that was the only good thing about this cooktop. As soon as moisture gets on the cooktop, for example from steam, the settings change. If you try to quickly wipe away the moisture with a dry paper towel, the cooktop switches off completely, and even the preset cooking time is lost. You can turn two cooking zones back on, but try restoring the two timers—how are you supposed to know the remaining timer time?
PS: Three IKEA employees assured us that this behavior is normal. Strange, since we have no problems with our current cooktop.
