lumpinchen24 Nov 2009 14:15Hello!
I have the opportunity to buy a well-preserved 2-seater sofa bed from the Ektorp series at a good price.
Unfortunately, we don’t like the upholstery cover 100%, and I would like to replace it with one in the color Sigsta. Currently, there is one being offered on ibääääää, but unfortunately, it’s not intended for the sofa bed model. Do you think I could still use it? What exactly is the difference between the regular covers and those for the sofa bed model? Maybe they can be slightly altered?
I would like to go to IKEA myself and check, but unfortunately, it’s quite a long distance and not so easy. Maybe someone here has some knowledge and can help me...
Cheers!!

Return_204324 Nov 2009 21:37Hello,
first of all, the Sigsta slipcover is basically no longer available at the furniture store; it was already being phased out in the summer. You mentioned you might be able to get one on eBay, but that really isn’t practical if you have a sofa bed, because you won’t be able to pull it out with the slipcover on. Even altering it by sewing won’t really help—I can only advise against it.
There are other slipcovers made specifically for sofa beds for a reason, and as far as I know, the Sigsta has never been available for those anyway.
Have a nice evening 😉

lumpinchen26 Nov 2009 09:43Yes, I understand that. I just thought maybe you could simply cut out the part under the seat cushions and re-sew it for the sofa bed. Unfortunately, the nearest IKEA is 50km (30 miles) away from us, and I don’t have a car, so it’s not that easy to go there and take a look.
