Hello everyone,

I received a dismantled modular cabinet with drawers from an acquaintance and noticed during assembly that the drawers have different extension depths. In other words, the top drawer pulls out significantly further (estimated about 5cm (2 inches)) than the lower one. When I asked my acquaintance, he said that, in his opinion, the extension depth should be the same. However, I couldn't find any visible stops on the slides to explain this, and both the left and right slides extend exactly the same length.

Question: Is it normal for the drawers to have different extension depths, or is something wrong?

Thank you in advance.

If I’m not mistaken, these are the Tandembox drawer slides. They should extend equally far.

I have now dismantled the drawers again and examined them more closely. The manufacturer is indeed Blum, and the model is Tandembox Plus. When looking at the drawers from below, it is clearly noticeable that the lower plastic housing, which contains the ball bearings and stops against a lug at both the rear and front end positions, is much longer than the upper one. This explains why the reduced extension depth is definitely due to the system design.

That’s interesting, I’ll have to take apart the drawers next time I visit a furniture store.
