Hello,

I need your help. I'm not really sure if what I have in mind will work. We are moving in October and planning our kitchen using the design tool. It’s great that you can do this from home. We have also visited Ikea several times in person. Unfortunately, I never really paid attention to whether cabinets that are placed next to other cabinets need side panels as well. 😕 I haven’t included any.

I hope you can help me.

Kind regards and have a nice evening

If you have wall cabinets next to wall cabinets, base cabinets next to base cabinets, or tall cabinets next to tall cabinets, you only need side panels at the ends, not between them.
When a wall cabinet or base cabinet is next to a tall cabinet, the tall cabinet gets a side panel.

If you plan to install a range hood between wall cabinets in one run, each wall cabinet gets a side panel. The base cabinet for the cooktop then also gets side panels on both the left and right sides. However, in this case, a single panel that is cut in half during installation is sufficient (it is only used for alignment adjustment).

Lidingö has a different white finish than the cabinet boxes, and side panels are used to cover the sides of the cabinet in the same color as the fronts. Keep in mind that the side panels are 13–15 mm (about 0.5–0.6 inches) thick.

Clear enough? 😉

Thank you, Zetterberg, for the quick, very detailed, and helpful response.
I was just worried that the doors might not close properly or look strange without the jambs.

Thanks again.
