Hello everyone,
I will briefly describe the situation first.
House is 3 years old
Walk-in tiled shower at floor level.
5-year warranty according to the building code

About 4 weeks ago, we noticed a cracked wall tile in the shower. The first row above the floor. I contacted my contractor and requested a defect repair.
He sent a tiler who removed the tile.
It was noticed that it was slightly damp behind the tile.
The contractor’s site manager ordered the removal of additional tiles on the wall and opening of the wall (timber frame construction).
Behind it everything was dry.

Findings so far: an area of about 20x20 cm (8x8 inches) behind the tile was damp, coming from the floor.
Visually all joints, including the silicone seals, appeared to be intact.
The moisture could therefore be coming from a defective floor waterproofing or the floor drain.
By now everything is dry.
The contractor now says it was only a silicone joint and wants to reseal it.
But what if it is due to faulty waterproofing? Can he just close it up or does he have to provide proof?
Should I or must I request something in writing to be on the safe side in case something happens again in 3 years and I risk losing my warranty?
What can I request in writing as proof that the defect repair was properly completed?
DIN standard or something similar?
Regards
Albert
