Hello everyone.
A new neighbor in our development is installing their gas boiler and hot water tank in the uninsulated attic.
In other words, they have a cold roof, just like us.
They said they will build an insulated “box” around the equipment.

Is that possible? If so, it could be an idea for us as well! What should the wall construction of this box be like to ensure effective insulation?

Has anyone here had any experience with this?

The boiler does not heat an uninsulated attic...

Just insulate the roof instead of the ceiling; spending a few extra euros will provide much more storage space.

No, it will never manage that. It doesn’t have to. It barely runs in summer anyway when it’s really warm up there, and in winter the cold doesn’t affect it. We had a Buderus from 1997 until 2016. Then we sold it. Whether it’s still running, no idea.

It is not supposed to heat an unheated floor either, but rather the small insulated space built around it...
Please do not take everything out of context...

I am hopeful that the boiler itself will emit enough heat to keep the room at the desired temperature.

That is exactly what can also be clearly understood here...

Yes, he did write that. Basically, creating a room. I would do it. Why not? Just drywall construction. Big enough to access everything everywhere. Timber frame, 24cm (9.5 inches) mineral wool insulation, sheathing. No big deal.
