Hello everyone.
A new neighbor in our development is installing their gas boiler and hot water tank in the uninsulated attic.
In other words, they have a cold roof, just like us.
They said they will build an insulated “box” around the equipment.

Is that possible? If so, it could be an idea for us as well! What should the wall construction of this box be like to ensure effective insulation?

Has anyone here had any experience with this?

I hope that the tongue-and-groove boards will be installed within 1-2 weeks and we can start with the insulation.
Today, during the discussion with our plumber, we definitely agreed that the heating and ventilation will be installed in the attic... This will create a lot of space in the utility room, making the effort put into insulating worthwhile.

A couple more tips from experience. Get yourself an insulation cutting knife. Make sure the insulation batt is not wet before processing. For the vapor barrier foil, a pneumatic stapler is almost indispensable to stretch it tightly. It can be quite fiddly, especially with a hip roof.

The tongue-and-groove boards are almost finished and will probably be completed by Friday!

On Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m., the 160mm (6.3 inches) insulation fleece will arrive! The (admittedly inexpensive) vapor barrier membrane, adhesive tape, and connection adhesive should also be delivered by DPD Poten during the week...
