Hello everyone,

we are planning to build a semi-detached house in 6-9 months and are currently in the initial planning discussions. The construction company offered to include the installation of a prefabricated garage directly in the building contract.

Key details:
3 x 9 m (3 x 6 m garage plus 3 x 3 m storage room)
Colored, electric sectional door
Foundation included
Costs about 14,000 euros

My question is whether this is a reasonable price or if it might be worth contracting the garage separately to save some money. Also, did you have any issues having the garage installed by an external company? Did you arrange this during the main construction phase or only at the very end?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the feedback.
I think we should leave it in and avoid the hassle of contracting and coordination.

That is affordable. For us, it took months of searching until we found someone who could do three strip footings for the garage at a reasonable price. Two companies each quoted 6000 euros for it.

It makes sense for a trade that is already on site to handle this. No one shows up just for such a small job, or it becomes correspondingly expensive.
Why didn’t you include this in the contract with the shell builder?
