Hello…

I want to cover the attic space (used purely for storage) so that I don’t keep snagging on the insulation between the rafters…

Can I use 12 mm OSB panels (about 0.5 inches)? Or are they too “airtight,” and would it be better to use simple boarding? Do I need to include a vapor barrier membrane, or is that unnecessary for a storage-only space?

I think you first need some basic knowledge about this... just starting to build without planning can cause serious damage, especially in the attic.

What is the current situation, and what do you want to do with the attic?

Hello,

do you have ventilation bricks integrated into your roof covering to allow air exchange in the attic?

As @Mycraft has already pointed out, converting the attic by a non-professional, especially in newer houses, can very quickly cause significant damage.

Key point: insufficient ventilation ⇒ mold growth.

If you do not ventilate the attic at least twice a day, or if you do not have a controlled mechanical ventilation system installed there, I would advise against covering the inner roof surface with OSB boards.

A controlled residential ventilation system is installed, which is also located in the attic (therefore, the house is insulated up to the ridge).

Roof membrane vents are installed in the underlay membrane (which are mandatory in Denmark, by the way) to provide ventilation between the insulation between rafters and the underlay membrane.
