Hello everyone!

Today, my son and I started assembling the tall cabinets for the Metod carcasses.

We also have the large Frostig (177 cm (69.7 inches)) and the large Frysa ready for installation.

My question:

The refrigerator manual only shows one installation combination, which is not a problem in itself, but what confuses me is that the two smaller back panels are supposed to be cut out.

Is that correct? Does this apply to both the large refrigerator and the freezer?

When searching online for similar questions without answers, someone mentioned that if the freezer and refrigerator are already connected to one power outlet, no additional electrical appliances should be plugged in. We are trying hard here to build a large unit with the oven and microwave installed in the middle, large pantry cabinets on both sides, and the refrigeration units at each end. Should I reconsider the outlet situation because of this?

Many thanks!

The back panels stabilize the cabinet frame (once nailed in place). If the cable is long enough, I would save the effort since ventilation happens through the cutout in the base panel and also at the top through the cabinet lid.

Regarding the electrical outlet,
nonsense – it depends on the power consumption of the devices how many you can connect to one circuit. The power rating of the devices is on the nameplate; the fridge and freezer usually consume around 200 W each.
What is absolutely forbidden are extension cords and multiple extensions!
The only exception is if the extension cords meet the same specifications as the original cable. That rules out low-cost plugs from hardware stores, discounters, Ikea, and other bargain sellers because the internal cable connections are, to put it mildly, poor quality.

I wouldn’t worry about it if only the refrigerator and freezer are plugged in – that’s about 400 to 500 W, approximately 2 amps.
The oven requires its own dedicated circuit with 16 A.
The microwave may also need one depending on its power consumption, but definitely not on a power strip, especially not if it is hidden behind or under the cabinet and hard to access!

Yes, definitely review and reconsider the electrical setup.
