Hey,

the question is basically already in the title.

How much space would be optimal for this? Maybe some of you also have pictures to share?

Thanks

whether sockets can be installed there, since the wall is 17.5cm (7 inches) thick, with external thermal insulation.
Now I understand what you mean.

Um, yes, to be able to install an electrical outlet there. The outlet is also mentioned in the title.

But thanks.

Wow, I find them really ugly...

In principle, it’s just an idea. Especially with a ribbon window, I can imagine it working well if Christmas lights are placed on the windowsill and can be plugged in nearby, rather than having to run long cables somewhere, even if it’s just down to a socket near the floor.

Here is a photo of our shell construction.
On the left, a waterproofing layer; on the right, the plaster rail. There was no space left for an electrical outlet.

You can also see how this issue was resolved.

White window frame with handle; unfinished interior with concrete blocks and visible plumbing.

I find these narrow reveals quite ugly. Installing electrical outlets in the reveals is definitely recommended; looking back, we should have done it more often.

We have them too. Almost everywhere. Very practical and they don’t interfere visually at all. At least not for us.
