Hello
Are there good retrofit smart home systems available?
We bought a semi-detached house as a new build from a developer.
The electrician declined to work with KNX and said he is not familiar with it and won’t do it.
My question is: Are there good retrofit options for smart home systems that don’t require opening up the walls (that is not an option)?
Which systems would you recommend?
Functions:
Light control
Window sensors (preferably invisible)
Shutter control
Music control
Video doorbell
It should definitely be possible to create scenes and rules.
I’m also open to other suggestions for useful functions I may not have thought of yet.

Is Opus only Enocean? So, everything without batteries or power? For light switches, roller shutters, etc., which are already connected to power, I want an in-wall version or to replace the switch.
Which wireless standard does Opus use?
Is Opus compatible with other manufacturers?
Does Opus also create a mesh wireless network like, for example, Z-Wave?

OPUS is EnOcean. You replace your existing push buttons with push buttons that have actuators built-in. Just look it up on Google; it covers a wide range and fits into standard switch frames.

Does the opus gateway run through a cloud? No. You only need that if you want to control the system with third-party devices. It operates independently on its own, including the internal connections between components.untergasse43 schrieb:
When I read this again, I often wonder why anyone would build with developers at all. Usually, it’s the biggest investment of one’s life, often taken on with significant debt, only to have to accept whatever the developer kindly decides to provide. For that amount of money, I wouldn’t be willing to accept such a take-it-or-leave-it approach. The developer builds exactly what sells like hotcakes: a base model with only those extras that more than a third of customers typically add. This meets the needs of the typical developer townhouse buyer quite satisfactorily.
That customers currently end up choosing developer offers that don’t align with their ideal profile is not the developers’ fault. It also doesn’t make sense to respond to this by switching from base models like Golfs to something like Tourans wholesale.
A common trigger for moving into a home is the upcoming due date of a second child—when they start kindergarten, the house should be ready. Searching for land often takes longer than expected, but you can’t exactly pause a pregnancy. So, taking an interim home is a good solution.
The mistake, in my view, comes when the interim home is not treated as temporary, and there’s an attempt, against all logic and efficiency, to turn it into the ideal home—no matter how inefficient and unsatisfying that may be.

When it comes to smart home systems, I would choose Loxone again without hesitation. It also works excellently as a retrofit solution.
I have it installed here in our house as well and would never want anything else.
Enocean is a bit of an issue since everyone develops their own little setup with this protocol, as it was never standardized.
