We plan to install solid plank flooring on sleeper joists in our future home. Underfloor heating is not very suitable for this. So we looked for an alternative and came across plinth heaters. I find those especially interesting that use the hypocaust principle. There is even a stone manufacturer offering a thermal wall stone with special cavities for the heated air. Or is the plinth heater without the hypocaust stone more effective? For me, this is still all theoretical. Does anyone have experience with this type of system in their home and can share if it actually works well and is energy efficient? Best regards, Steffi33

Good evening,

I had to remove the images; they are copyrighted.

Is that sufficient for a "standard" new build, or does it need to be closer to a passive house? There isn’t much surface area for heat loss, after all.
Why not simply glue the floorboards down onto the screed?

Hello nordanney, we do not want to glue down the floorboards. That’s why we are looking for an alternative to underfloor heating. We also like the idea of skirting board heating... but of course only if it works. Best regards, Steffi33.
